About

Muxima beachwear operates from an environmentally sustainable foundation and, believes in transparent means of production. We champion the use of natural fibers as part of the move away from oil-dependent fashion.

Where

The factories we collaborate with are locally based, enabling our design team to closely follow each step of production. In fact, our swimwear factory is a bus-ride away, ensuring prompt attention for any necessary adjustments, while also drastically reducing our carbon footprint.

Origin of the Fiber

We use Organic Cotton fibre harvested in, Turkey. The methods used have a lower negative impact on the local environments and support the regional farming economisers. These methods DO NOT USE Toxics, persistent pesticides, or synthetic fertilizer, and consequently do not contaminate the water, thereby precluding local communities from contriving diseases common to non-organic farming areas.

Dyes and Pigments

While most of our pieces are presented in their natural colour, our swimwear pieces are individually hand-dyed using traditional methods. For this collection we have used a four-colour composition: Goldenrod from the Mulberry, Peach from the Madder, Crimson from the Brazilian-wood and Indigo, all sourced from a British supplier.

Prints

Our prints are digitally-water based, so no water wastage.

Fabrics

Our backpacks are made from a combination of Flax Tow (linen) and Horsehair canvas. Horsehair canvas is made from a combination of 70% cotton and 30% horsehair, and traditionally; used in tailored suits and upholstery. Both were produced in factories in the North of Portugal. The growth of flax tow requires little water and no pesticides.

Muxima swimwear uses a specifically designed bespoke jersey that is made in Portugal, using a blend of certified GOTS organic cotton and a minimal amount of elastane,  giving each piece the perfect balance of elasticity and comfort.

Ourt t-shirts are made from organic GOTS cotton with a superfine--peach finish,  that is smooth to the touch.
